Ningbo is a highly developed coastal city lying in the east of Zhejiang Province. Although a railway route from Ningbo to Huangshan is already planned, at present bus is the only means of transportation from Ningbo to Huangshan City.
Every day, there are as many as 5 buses to or passing Huangshan city from Ningbo Central Bus Station located on No. 181 Tongda Road. Among them one bus which departs at 09:05 will teminate at Huangshan scenic site after making a stop in Tunxi (also called Huangshan city) while another 4 buses will either terminate or make a stop in Tunxi. The departure time is 07:25, 08:15, 09:05, 10:35 and 13:40 respectively. The busfare is between RMB134 and RMB161.
Since there are hourly buses from Hangzhou to Huangshan everyday, you may get to Hangzhou first (there are also many buses from Ningbo to Hangzhou daily), and then take bus from Hangzhou to Huangshan. See: How to Get to Huangshan from Hangzhou. It takes about 3 hours to reach Hangzhou from Ningbo by bus, plus another 2 hours and 40 minutes from Hangzhou to Huangshan City.
To save time, you can take bullet train (so many bullet trains every day) from Ningbo to Hangzhou East Railway Station (in about one hour), and then take pubic bus from Hangzhou to Huangshan.
Also, it is quite convenient to get to Shanghai from Ningbo by bus (about 4 hours), by bullet train (about 2 hours) or by flight (half an hour). There is a daily flight from Shanghai to Huangshan in the afternoon and back to Shanghai in the evening. See: How to Get to Huangshan from Shanghai
