How to Get to Jungfrau
UNESCO World Natural Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch
At their Helsinki meeting of 13th December 2001, the World Heritag Committee accepted the Jungfrau-Aletsch to the UNESCO World Heritage Liste.
The area thus becomes the first-ever World Natural Heritage in the Alps to achieve UNESCO World Heritage status. After a long journey, we have reached our destination. Our incomparable Alpine landscape has been awarded the equivalent of a "Nobel Prize for Nature". This of course brings responsponsabilities and specifications for the managment of the World Heritage. Sites are being drawn up. However it is also a great touristic opportunity. The Jungfrau Railway enables us to transport visitors to the heart of the World Natural Heritage area in an environmentally-friendly way. The label "World Natural Heritage" is an international seal of quality, confirming the unique, scenic splendour of the Jungfrau-Aletsch region.
