Day 1 Arrive Shanghai
On arrival transfer to the Galaxy Hotel for 2 nights with daily breakfast - Rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2 Shanghai (B, L, D)
Pay a visit to Yuyuan Garden, a well-restored Suzhou-style garden, which was specially built for Pan's parents as a place to enjoy themselves a tranquil and happy time in their old age. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters are unique characteristic. And also take a walk through Chenghuangmiao (known as Yuyuan Garden Market) built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. It filled with antique markets and specititley stores. Later on, visit Jade Buddha Temple, built in 1882 to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The two precious jade Buddha statues, one sitting Buddha and one Recumbent Buddha, are carved with whole white jade. Thereafter, you will visit the Bund to take a glimpse into Shanghai's architecture and see how it looked centuries ago before taking a stroll along the emporium-lined Nanjing Road. You will attend the Acrobatics Show in the evening which will conclude the day.
Day 3 Shanghai to Kunming (B, L)
Transfer to airport in the morning for flight to Kunming. Upon arrival, drive to the Western Hill, then take a 10 minutes chairlift up the hill. From the top, follow a path winding down the famous "Dragon Gate". The Western Hills consists of Binao, Huating, Taihua and Lohan hills. The Western Hills Forest Reserve is situated in the western suburb of Kunming, on the west bank of the Dianchi Lake. Being 15 kilometers (9 miles) away from the urban district, the hills extend for more than 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) at an titleitude of 2,500 meters (8,202 feet) above sea level. The hills are also known as the 'Sleeping Beauty Hills', a reference to the hills' undulating contours, which are thought to resemble a woman sleeping beside the lake, with tresses of hair flowing into the sea. Afterwards, a visit to the local Bird and Flower Market.
Day 4 Kunming to Lijiang (B, L)
Transfer to airport for morning flight to Lijiang - On arrival transfer to the Jiannanchun Hotel for 2 nights with daily breakfast. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore on your own. If you are willing and ready to exit the door of your hotel you will easily find a nice bar to have a cup of coffee to relax, or simply in meditation. Or you may see the local market full of vendors anxiously waiting for you from all directions. Test your bargaining skills and have fun! There is also an option to rent a bicycle or a tuk-tuk to go around the ancient town and get an up close and personal look at the old house of Lijiang and the life of the Chinese residing in this city.
Day 5 Lijiang (B, L)
Tour the Baisha Fresco situated in the northern part of Lijiang. Here at the old town of Baisha, which is also translated as "white sand," you will find an assortment of over 600-year old preserved murals. What is most unique and rare about the Fresco is that there are painted figures representative of Buddhism, Lamaism and Taoism intertwined together as one. Soon after a visit to the captivating Black Dragon Pool awaits where the crystal clear water flows throughout the old town. Marked as a favorite nature location for the Naxi community, you will realize why they enjoy living in an area where nature is their everyday backdrop.
Day 6 Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge (B, L, D)
In today's morning, you'll drive about 60KM to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorgeous scenery. The scenery is magnificent as the road running through the Lijiang valley which is filled with wheat fields and drying haystacks. We continue driving 40KM more to visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world. With 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, it is called the Jinsha in this area because you can find gold in the river. Thereafter, you'll be trekking from Qiaotou to Hetaoyuan (23km or 14 miles) for 1 night at the Hetaoyuan Lodge with breakfast
Day 7 Hetaoyuan to Shangri-La (B, L, D)
Trekking from Hetaoyuan to Daju then transfer by car to Shangr-La (Zhongdian) - On arrival transfer to the Gytitlehang Dzong Hotel for 3 nights with daily breakfast B/L/D
Day 8 Shangri-La (B, L)
Half day tour to Songzanlin Monastery which, also called Guihua Monastery, is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan province. It is 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from the seat of Shangri-La County. Construction began in 1679 and was completed in 1681. During the monasteries golden age over 3,000 monks lived and studied there. Built along the mountains with a magnificent facade, the monastery is a faithful imitation of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Covering an area of 33 hectares (82 acres), the monastery has solid walls and five gates. Two main lamaseries, Zhacang and Jikang, command the highest position in the architectural complex. Day 9 Shangri-La (B, L)
Today's sightseeing tour will take you to Bita-Lake Nature Reserve, where you'll discover a crystal-clear lake and a primeval forest. This alpine lake sprawls over an area of 395 acres, at an titleitude of 3,539 meters, with an average depth of 20 meters. The surface of the lake is spangled with jadeitelike isles, covered with graceful stands of trees and groves of azaleas in a variety of colors. Bita Lake is widely recognized as 'A Pearl on the Plateau' and the most attractive lake in Shangri-La. You'll enjoy a pleasant cruise on the lake through the unadorned beauty of nature. Rest of the day at your leisure
Day 10 Shangri-La to Shanghai (B)
Transfer to airport for morning flight to Kunming with a connecting flight to Shanghai - On arrival transfer to the Galaxy Hotel for 1 night with breakfast - Rest of the day at your leisure
