Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Arrive at Beijing on your own arrangement. Be met & transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Beijing (B, L, D)
After breakfast you begin with a tour to the world's largest and renowned public square where many historical events once took place - Tian'anmen Square. Around the vast square, you can see The Great Hall of People, holding the congress of the Communist Party and National People's Congress, History Museum, Military Museum and Monuments to the People's heroes. Under the famous Mao's portrait, which is positioned at the center of "The Gate of Heavenly Peace" entrance, you will walk into the Forbidden City (also known as Imperial Palace), which holds 9,999 rooms. Experience the intricate architecture and exquisitely designed layout of these grand buildings once housed by Chinese Emperors who ruled during the period of the Qing and Ming Dynasties for almost 500 years (1420-1911). Thereafter, you will visit the Temple of Heaven where the Chinese Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would go to pray for bountiful harvests. This remarkable construction is pledged highest level of Chinese traditional architecture. Enjoy the Peking Opera Show in the evening.
Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D)
Today you will begin the morning by setting out to the Great Wall of China, also considered as one of the greatest wonders of the world. This massive wall stretches well over 4,000 miles and once was used as the soldier's safeguard to protect the Chinese empire's northern borders against invaders. You then have the opportunity to climb up the mammoth sized wall at your own pace. Be sure to take in the experience and enjoy the breath-taking view from the top of one of the greatest achievements of civilization. Later on, we'll be visiting the Ming Tombs and the Sacred Way. The Ming Tombs lie in Changping County, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest from the urban area of Beijing. It is actually a tomb cluster of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), including thirteen emperor's mausoleums, seven tombs for concubines and one grave for eunuchs. This cemetery is world famous because of the thirteen emperors buried here. Sitting at the foot of Mt. Yan and occupying an area of more than 120 square kilometers (29,653 acres), it appears extremely spectacular. It was listed in the World Heritage List in 2003. In the evening, we'll have Peking Roasted Duck Dinner.
Day 4 Beijing-Xi'an (B, L, D)
After buffet breakfast at hotel, we transfer to the airport for flight to Xi'an, the ancient capital of China for 13 dynasties. Upon arrival meet and transfer the hotel. After lunch, you will visit to Shaanxi Historical Museum and Ancient City Wall, the most complete city wall that has survived in China as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It was enlarged in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) from the city wall initially built in Tang Dynasty (618 -907). Now it is 12 meters tall, 12-14 meters wide and over 14 kilometers in length with a deep moat surrounding it. You can walk, even cycle on the wall. We'll take Dumpling Dinner with dumplings making demonstration at a good dumpling restaurant.
Day 5 Xi'an (B, L, D)
Today, we take a full day excursion to world famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses with circle movie showed before visiting the pits and the Banpo Neolithic Village. The original site of Terracotta Warriors was found by a local farmer digging a well in 1974. Now it has turned into the most important attraction in Xi'an - Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum. It is located about 50km east of the Xi'an City. The museum includes Pit 1, Pit 2 and Pit 3 as well the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. The Pit 1 is the largest of the three. Lunch at a good local restaurant. You can choose the Tang Dynasty Dinner Show as optional in the evening (highly recommended, as it is the best show in China).
Day 6 Xi'an-Chongqing (B, L)
We take the morning flight to Chongqing. Our guide will take us to conduct a city tour visiting about one hour the Goose Neck Park which is very popular with the locals who come here to enjoy the gardens, play Mahjohngg, make music or just relax. Nice views over the river and Chongqing, there are also a number of interesting buildings and former Embassies in the grounds, plus an enormous long painting of the Yangtze. Then, we'll pay a visit to the Residence of General Joseph W. Stilwell, where there is a renowned military exhibition, focusing on the infamous "Flying Tigers" during the Anti-Japaness War. Then move to the Panda House in Chongqing Zoo. Located in the western suburbs of the city, the Zoo occupies an area of 45 hectares. There are some rare animals including Golden hair monkeys and South China Tigers. In Panda Room, visitors can see the giant and lesser pandas and their offsprings. After dinner, you will be transferred to the pier to board luxury Yangtze River cruise ship.
Day 7 Yangtze River (B, L, D)
In the morning you'll disembark at Shibaozhai, a 12 storey red wooden pagoda which rests against the rock wall, where you can also climb up the spiral staircase to the top for a panoramic view of the winding river, the village and the countryside. In the late afternoon, you have the option of visiting the temples of White Emperor Town, a famous small town in the upper reaches of Yangtze River. After the completion of Three Gorges Project, it has become an isolated island with nice scenery.
Day 8 Yangtze Three Gorges (B, L, D)
You'll enter the world-famous Three Gorges today. The most impressive section of the Yangtze river is the three: the Qutang Gorge, Wuxia Gorge and Xiling Gorge, collectively known as the Sanxia, or Three Gorges. Cruising through the Three Gorges is a highlight of any Yangtze River cruise. The Three Gorges section of the river (also called Sanxia) stretches for about 118 miles upriver from the new Three Gorges Dam. The first gorge going downriver from Chongqing to the Three Gorges dam is Qutang Xia or the Bellows Gorge. At only five miles long, it is the shortest of the Three Gorges, but has some of the most dramatic scenery. The Yangtze River narrows to a width of only about 300 feet in Qutant Xia, and the cliffs tower overhead. You will take a 4-hour "soft adventure" to the 60 km tributary, Shennong Stream. With a crystal clear stream flowing swiftly from north to south through very deep gorges, an exciting sampan tour allows you to enjoy the charming landscape on both lands of the river. Special local flavor definitely impresses you a lot!
Day 9 Yichang - Zhangjiajie (B, L)
After the shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam site you'll have a farewell lunch on board, the local guide will meet you and escort you to the local train station where you take a train to Zhangjiajie (K1473 13:25/18:15). Upon your arrival, you'll be met by our guide in Zhangjiajie and transferred to your hotel.
Day 10 Zhangjiajie (B, L)
After breakfast, morning tour takes you to enjoy the sightseeing in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park which is famous for its queer rocks. There are over thousands peaks are in various forms. You will take a cable car to Yellow Stone Village where you can get a grand view of the forest of unique landscape. Also you will visit Golden Whip Stream, Yuanjiajie, Shadao Valley, etc. Transfer back to the hotel and rest. Be transferred and visit Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Huangshi Fort.
Day 11 Zhangjiajie - Shanghai (B, L)
After breakfast, drive to Tianzi Mountain. Tianzi Mountain is one of the four scenic zones in Wulingyuan. All the landscape in Tianzi Mountain is "original scenery of natural beauty" without any traces of manual work. There is a saying that "people who have climbed Tianzi Mountain will not climb any other mountains" and "It can not be said that you have been to Wulingyuan without reaching Tianzi Mountain". You have chance to enjoy the scenic spots including the Helong Park, Ten Miles Painting Gallery, Tianzi Pavilion, West Sea, etc. You'll take the evening flight to Shanghai. Upon you arrival, be met and tranferred to you hotel.
Day 12 Shanghai (B, L)
The day will first begin with a visit to the Yuyuan Garden, a well-restored Suzhou-style garden, which was specially built for Pan's parents as a place to enjoy themselves a tranquil and happy time in their old age. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters are unique characteristic. And also take a walk through Chenghuangmiao (known as Yuyuan Garden Market) built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. It filled with antique markets and specititley stores. Then, visit Shanghai Museum, a leading attraction of the city since it opened in 1994, containing some priceless collections of paintings, porcelains and bronzes. In the afternoon, we visit the Bund and a casual stroll along the emporium-lined Nanjiing Road. Take a glimpse into Shanghai's architecture and see how it looked centuries ago. This landmark known for its distinct neo-classic architecture of 52 European style buildings. In the evening you will attend a mesmerizing Shanghai Acrobatic Show which will conclude the night.
Day 13 Shanghai - Departure (B)
Free time until you are ready to be transferred to the airport for your departure. End of trip.
