Day 1 Arrival in Chengdu (D)
Upon arrival, our local guide and driver will meet you at the airport. If time permits, you will drive to visit Chengdu Panda Base located in the northern suburb of Chengdu on Futou Hill. Giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base live in large naturalistic habitats, which help the visitor to understand how these animals live in the wild. It is an excellent recreational area and a highlight of any visit to Chengdu. Many types of bamboo, trees, and flowers thrive at the Research Base. Several species of birds also make their home there. Stay in 5 star Sheroton hotel for overnight.
Day 2 Chengdu - Lhasa (B, L, D)
Transfer to the airport for flight to Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region and has long been the center of politics, economy, culture and religion in Tibet. Lhasa means "holy land" in Tibetan language. Upon arrival, you'll take a city tour of Lhasa. For the rest time of the day, you will be free in the hotel to rest in order to adapt the climate of highland Overnight in Lhasa Hotel.
Day 3 Lhasa (B, L, D)
In the morning, we drive to visit the Potala Palace which was originally constructed in 637 by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet. Later, it was expanded and served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas as well as the religious-political nexus of traditional Tibet. The crowds of pilgrims, innumerable magnificent murals, Buddhist statues, scriptures and rare treasures titleogether create a dense religious and art atmosphere that impresses every visitor. In the afternoon, we will visit Jokhang monastery, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where thousands of pilgrims come for worship every day. The temple, built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure still existing in Tibet. Walk on the Barkhor street surrounding Jokhang, a big free market with its prolific stalls selling the local specititleies. Stay overnight in the same hotel.
Day 4 Lhasa (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will drive to the suburb of Lhasa to visit Drepung monastery, the sacred land of Gelug Sect, which was established in 1416. And it is used to be the residence of the second, third and fourth Dalai Lama. We continue to visit Sera monastery which was set up in 1419 and has always been an important Buddhist seminary. As rose are planted everywhere in the monastery, it is also called "the court of wild rose". Today there are still 200 lamas living there. In the following, we'll visit Norbulinka, the Summer Palace of previous Dalai Lamas. Stay overnight in the same hotel.
Day 5 Lhasa - Xi'an (B, L, D)
You are free in the morning. After lunch, transfer to the airport for flight to Xi'an in the evening. Upon arrival, met and transferred to your hotel. . Stay in 5 star Hyatt Regency Hotel for overnight.
Day 6 Xi'an (B, L)
Visit the world-famous Terracotta Warriors where life-sized infantrymen, archer, officers and their horses symbolically guard the tomb of the first Qin emperor. The original site of Terracotta Warriors was found by a local farmer digging a well in 1974. Now it has turned into the most important attraction in Xi'an - Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum. It is located about 50km east of the Xi'an City. The museum includes Pit 1, Pit 2 and Pit 3 as well the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. The Pit 1 is the largest of the three. In the after noon, we'll visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Buddhist pagoda located in southern Xi'an. As the symbol of the old-line Xi'an, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. Also visit the Bell Tower built in 1348. We'll enjoy a marvelous Tang Dynasty Dumpling dinner and dancing show.
Day 7 Xi'an - Guilin (B, L, D)
Have a city tour of the City Wall that still compasses the center of Xi'an. It is the most complete city wall that has survived in China as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It was enlarged in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) from the city wall initially built in Tang Dynasty (618 -907). Now it is 12 meters tall, 12-14 meters wide and 14 kilometers in length with a deep moat surrounding it. You can walk, even cycle on the wall. City tour also includes the Shanxi History Museum where you will discover how Xi'an became the cradle of Chinese culture. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for flight to Guilin. Stay in 5 star Royal Garden Hotel or Guilin Lijiang Waterfall Hotel.
Day 8 Guilin - Li River (B, L, D)
Guilin is said to be "the best scenery under heaven" for its unique karst limestone creating the picturesque beauty. This city of surreal beauty is prevalent of aromatic Osmanthus trees and is famous for its hills along the Lijiang River. You will embark on a memorable 3-hour cruise passing through the scenic landscapes of Yangshuo which allows you to witness the unique Elephant Trunk Hill and the exact location of where the image of the $20 Yuan note was photographed along the Li River. As the whimsical cruise docks you will then hop on a trolley that will transport you to your hotel. Take a glimpse of the lush agriculture that surrounds you. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore on your own. If you are willing and ready to exit the door of your hotel you will find yourself immersed in a market full of vendors anxiously waiting for you from all directions. Test your bargaining skills and have fun! There is also an option to rent a bicycle or a tuk-tuk to go around the countryside and get an up close and personal look at the hills of Yangshuo and the life of the Chinese residing in this city. Overnight in Ping'an Guesthouse.
Day 9 Guilin (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we drive back to Guilin where we'll visit Reed Flute Cave, Lu Di Yan, another scenic spot in Guilin. Pay attention to the music the vendors make as they blow their flutes constructed from the actual reeds that grow outside the cave. Enjoy the radiating lights that illuminate the natural rock formation and stone pillars along the zigzag pathway within the cave. Thereafter, you will visit the Solitary Peak. The climb up to the peak is brief and the view from the very top gives you a panoramic view of the great splendor of Guilin. Soon after, a special Tea Banquet awaits you.
Day 10 Guilin - HK (B)
After breakfast, your will be escorted to the airport for flight to HK.
