Day 1 Beijing
Arrive in Beijing, where you will be met and transferred to the hotel for four nights stay. This afternoon will be at leisure to overcome any jetlag. Stay in 4* Phoenix Grand Hotel (Or the same class)
Day 2 Beijing (B, L, D)
After breakfast you begin with a tour to the world's largest and renowned public square where many historical events once took place - Tian'anmen Square. Around the vast square, you can see The Great Hall of People, holding the congress of the Communist Party and National People's Congress, History Museum, Military Museum and Monuments to the People's heroes. Under the famous Mao's portrait, which is positioned at the center of "The Gate of Heavenly Peace" entrance, you will walk into the Forbidden City (also known as Imperial Palace), which holds 9,999 rooms. Experience the intricate architecture and exquisitely designed layout of these grand buildings once housed by Chinese Emperors who ruled during the period of the Qing and Ming Dynasties for almost 500 years (1420-1911). This afternoon visit the Panda Hall and the Summer Palace. Enjoy the Peking Duck Dinner tonight.
Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D)
Today you will drive to visit the Great Wall of China, also considered as one of the greatest wonders of the world. This massive wall stretches well over 4,000 miles and once was used as the soldier's safeguard to protect the Chinese empire's northern borders against invaders. You then have the opportunity to climb up the mammoth sized wall at your own pace. Be sure to take in the experience and enjoy the breath-taking view from the top of one of the greatest achievements of civilization. Later on, we'll be visiting the Ming Tombs and the Sacred Way. The Ming Tombs lie in Changping County, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest from the urban area of Beijing. It is actually a tomb cluster of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), including thirteen emperor's mausoleums, seven tombs for concubines and one grave for eunuchs. This cemetery is world famous because of the thirteen emperors buried here. Sitting at the foot of Mt. Yan and occupying an area of more than 120 square kilometers (29,653 acres), it appears extremely spectacular. Enjoy an evening of traditional Chinese culture with the Legend of Kungfu Show.
Day 4 Beijing (B, L)
Another spectacular day is here! Today you will visit the Temple of Heaven where the Chinese Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would go to pray for bountiful harvests. It was a critical task for all emperors to perform rituals and tasks in order for his empire to reap successful harvests and good fortune. Capture the detailed essence of all the rich colors blended together on the hand painted tiles and roofing of the structures. This remarkable construction is pledged highest level of Chinese traditional architecture. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 5 Beijing - Xi'an (B, L)
In the morning, you will explore the fascinating ancient Hutong neighborhoods. The oldest Beijing Hutongs were constructed during Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Four quadrangles or houses are often built around a quadrangular courtyard; they are often regarded as the main buildings of the Hutongs. Your tour will lead you through some of the best-reserved Hutong neighborhoods that most represented the history, culture and lifestyles of old Beijing. Followed by learning how to make dumplings and lunch with a local family. Transfer to the airport in the afternoon for the flight to the Ancient city of Xi'an. Two nights in Xi'an. Day 6 Xi'an (B, L, D)
You'll take a full day excursion to world famous Terracotta Warriors, created to guard the tomb of the first emperor to unite China, Qin Shihuangdi, the Terracotta Warriors are regarded as one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries in the 20th century. The original site of Terracotta Warriors was found by a local farmer digging a well in 1974. Now it has turned into the most important attraction in Xi'an - Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum. It is located about 50km east of the Xian City. The museum includes Pit 1, Pit 2 and Pit 3 as well the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. The Pit 1 is the largest of the three. Thereafter, visit the old imperial bathhouse of the Huaqing Hot Springs and the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter. The day will conclude with a tasteful and creatively prepared dumpling feast followed by an exquisite traditional Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show.
Day 7 Xi'an - Chongqing (B, L)
Morning tour of the Ancient City Wall, the most complete city wall that has survived in China as well being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It was enlarged in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) from the city wall initially built in Tang Dynasty (618 -907). Now it is 12 meters tall, 12-14 meters wide and 14 kilometers in length with a deep moat surrounding it. You can walk, even cycle on the wall. Followed by visiting the well-preserved emblem of Xi'an, the Wild Goose Pagoda. The towering 211.6 Feet high structure completely made of bricks originated during the Tang Dynasty when Emperor Gaozong once reigned. Day 8 Cruising (B, L, D)
Sailing down on the fabled Yangtze River for an unforgettable cruise. Enjoy the river scenery and an array of shipboard activities. Shore excursion to Fengdu or Wanxian, the folkloric "Ghost City", with its eerie temples and ghostly depictions. Folklore states that this city is home to devils but some people do not put much credence in this tale. However, along with the dark side, Fengdu is one of the most beautiful areas in China, one that has a rich culture and boasts a variety of historic relics.
Day 9 Cruising (B, L, D)
Continue through ever-changing rural panoramas into the first of the famous Three Gorges, Qutang Gorge, the shortest, but by far the most dramatic with its gentle bluff banks lined with ancient plank pathways. Board small vessels for a breathtaking voyage on the Daning River to its Three Small Gorges, each covered with greenery and alive with the calls of birds and monkeys or sail through the beautiful Shennong Stream known for lush pine gorges and translucent water. In the late afternoon sail to Wu Gorge, second of the three main gorges and noted for its stunning "Twelve Peaks".
Day 10 Yichang - Shanghai (B, L)
A thrilling final day of sailing through Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges, a rushing passage of rapids embraced by emerald terraced hills before arriving in Yichang in the morning, with a land excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Site. It is the world's largest dam, 1.7 miles long and 220 feet high, and the largest electricity-generating plant of any kind. The dam body was completed in 2006. All of the originally planned components of the project were completed on October 30, 2008. Transfer for about one hour to the airport for the afternoon flight to Shanghai. Day 11 Shanghai (B, L, D)
Morning tour to Yuyuan Garden, a well-restored Suzhou-style garden, which was specially built for Pan's parents as a place to enjoy themselves a tranquil and happy time in their old age. The pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters are unique characteristic. And also take a walk through Chenghuangmiao (known as Yuyuan Garden Market) built in the fifteenth century during the Ming Dynasty. It filled with antique markets and specititley stores. Then, we'll visit Shanghai Museum, a leading attraction of the city since it opened in 1994, containing some priceless collections of paintings, porcelains and bronzes. In the afternoon, you will also visit the Jade Buddha Temple, which was first built in 1882 and features a giant white Jade Buddha, which was carved from a single piece of jade. Evening Acrobatic Show will be arranged.
Day 12 Shanghai - Suzhou - Shanghai (B, L)
For today, we'll make a full day trip by coach (car) to Suzhou where you will visit Garden of the Master of the Nets, originally the garden of the Song official Shi Zhengzhi and bore the name Thousand Scroll Hall. It was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Qian Long and changed to its present name. The whole compound is made up of a garden and living quarters. The garden is located in the west, with a lake serving as the central point of the layout. On the lake's shores, corridors, pavilions, stone bridges and rockeries compose a scene of rich attractions. Alongside the lake are picturesque grottos of yellow huangshi granite, in the creation of which techniques derived from Chinese painting were applied. Later on, we visit Suzhou Silk Factory. In the afternoon, we go for a short cruise on the Grand Canal in Suzhou. Back to Shanghai in the evening.
Day 13 Shanghai (B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight back to your home country.
