Day 2 Hiking in Huangshan (B, L, D) (See: Huangshan Trekking Map)
Drive for one and half hours to reach the Mercy Light Pavilion, the startpoint for hiking up from the western steps. It will take you about 4 hours to reach the Jade Screen Peak, just half way of the whole trip for today, where we will have lunch. After lunch we need to hike for another 3 and half hours before getting to our hotel. While hiking, you can enjoy dazzling beautiful views of the most famous mountain in China, including the Lotus Peak which is also the highest peak of Huangshan Mountain with an elevation of 1, 864 meters, Old Monk in Meditation, Narrow Cliff, Turtle on the back of a Crocodile, Bright Top, Flying-over Rock, Nine Dragon Peak, Cloud-dispelling Pavilion. For the sake of safety, however, keep this saying in your mind: Don't walk if you want to enjoy views, and don't get distracted by views while walking. Stay in Baiyun Hotel (4 star)
Day 3 Hiking in Huangshan (B, L, D)
Huangshan is famed for its sunrises. Weather permitting, we should gaze upon a breathtaking sight this morning as the golden light of the sun pierces the mists. The mountain peaks rise above the clouds, and the light of sunrise illuminates a frothy, ever-changing sea of white clouds below. We can watch this spectacle from a viewing terrace a short distance from our hotel. After breakfast, we head out for an all-day hike to explore the trails of the Xihai Grand Canyon, which has relatively fewer visitors than the main trails and offers breathtaking scenery. These are some of the most remarkable trails you'll ever see. Our route is a 2.5-hour descent to the canyon floor, where we enjoy a picnic lunch. An ascent of about five hours brings us back to our mountaintop hotel. En route, hike past beautiful places with evocative names such as Walking Fairy Bridge, Brightness Apex, Rock Flying from Afar (a large standing rock), and many other examples of Huangshan's breathtaking scenery. We reach the hotel by the late afternoon.
Day 4 Hiking in Huangshan (B, L, D)
Today we will do the trekking down from the Refreshing Terrace, a footpath in the mountain rarely visited by tourists, to the Pine Valley scenic site. After sightseeing some scenic spots near the northern foothill which features gullies, water pools and rocks in different formation, you can either take the same trails (see Map) or the Taiping Cable Car back up at your own cost, the latter offering you a bird's views of the gorgeous landscape to the northern steps of Huangshan. It takes about 5 hours to do the trekking to the Pine Valley. Stay in Beihai Hotel (4 star)
Day 5 Huangshan - Tunxi (B, L, D)
After breakfast we will be hiking down the mountain from the eastern steps which presents somewhat different, yet equally marvelous scenery in comparison with what on the western steps. It is almost all the way downhill and would take you about 2 hours to reach the foothill. Back to the downtown in the afternoon and visit Inkstick Factory, the unique one in China now; the local culture museum and Old Street, a trading center in old days lined with ancient wooden buildings from the Song dynasty, many of which have been converted into antique shops selling furniture, souvenirs and local products. Leave Huangshan City after dinner.
